Bachelor of Arts in Social Work Program
The BASW is the beginning professional degree in the field of social work. Our BASW curriculum is an exciting and highly structured two-year program that students begin after completing lower division course requirements. Students are admitted to the program only in the fall and take a year-long sequence of human behavior, social welfare policy, and social work research courses their first year. In the second year, social work practice courses are taken concurrently with a two-day per week placement in a social service agency.
The BASW degree prepares students for generalist social work practice in agency settings with individuals, families, groups, and communities encountering problems related to personal or social circumstance. Social work' s approach is unique among the helping professions for its focus on people' s problems in the context of their social environment. Our BASW program seeks students from the diverse populations in the Inland Empire who will go on to effectively serve those populations. The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the national accrediting body for social work programs.
