Laurel E. Brown graduated from SUNY-Albany ( Albany , N.Y. ) earning her MSW in 1981. Ms. Brown has been in the social work field for over 26 years serving children, youth and families, and training and educating social workers. Ms. Brown has worked most of her professional career in the child welfare field, where she has been a group home social worker and administrator, child welfare social worker, supervisor, trainer and manager. She has been a field instructor for over 10 years, adjunct faculty member at both CSUSB and Loma Linda University, and trainer for over 10 years.

Ms. Brown is currently working on her Ph.D. specializing in the area of child welfare and spiritual/religious faith. She is interested in developing students who work with children, youth and families who are impacted by issues of violence, poverty, abuse and neglect, and ethnic and racial discrimination. Ms. Brown was recently the Director for the Public Child Welfare Training Academy 's Inland Site before coming on as a full time faculty member for the BASW IVE program.
